A new documentary series about the making of The Mandalorian is coming to Disney+ in May.

The eight-part series, titled Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian, will give fans an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at how the first live-action Star Wars series was brought to life.

Hosted by Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau, the documentaries will feature unseen footage and interviews with the people involved in the hugely popular spin-off show, with each episode focusing on a “different facet” of the series, such as the music, special effects and acting performances.

Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian is an opportunity for fans of the show to take a look inside and get to see a different perspective, and perhaps a greater understanding, of how The Mandalorian came together and some of the incredibly talented contributors throughout Season One,” said Favreau.

“We had a great experience making the show and we’re looking forward to sharing it with you.”

The docu-series’ opening episode will drop on Disney+ on 4 May, the holiday christened “Star Wars Day” by fans.

The Mandalorian initially debuted in the US in November along with the streaming services launch, coming to the UK in March where new episodes are airing weekly.

50 million people have now signed up for Disney+, nearly double the number that had subscribed in February.
