The Missing writers hint at second series

Jack and Harry Williams kept details of the upcoming finale under wraps

The writers of hit BBC crime series The Missing have hinted that a second series could be on the cards.

Jack and Harry Williams are in talks for a follow-up to the drama, about the hunt for missing five-year-old Oliver Hughes.

“It’s in negotiations, I think that’s fair to say,” Jack told the Guardian. “It’s definitely something we are keen to do and [the BBC] feel like they’re keen to do but to say any more may be too difficult.”

The writers were unable to comment on whether any of the current cast would return for another run as the upcoming series one finale could be ruined.

“All we can say is that this series will have closure to it,” added Jack. “I don’t want someone at the BBC to kill me! I hope people do enjoy the ending.

“I think it’s very true to the very first hour that you see. We don’t want people to leave feeling frustrated.”

Episode six of The Missing airs tomorrow night on BBC One at 9pm, with two weeks to go until the finale.

The gripping show follows Tony Hughes (James Nesbitt) as he desperately searches for his son eight years after he first disappeared while on a family holiday in France.

On average, 7.7 million have been tuning in each week to see the latest twists and turns.
