Pablo Escobar drama Narcos has already been renewed for a second season after proving a hit on streaming service Netflix.

Wagner Moura will return in the lead as the Colombian drug lord who ran the infamous Medellin Cartel, once the most brutal trafficking organisation on the planet

Adam Fierro, known for The Shield, will be replacing Hannibal's Chris Brancato as showrunner after the latter left to work on biblical drama Of Kings and Prophets, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed..

Told both in English and Spanish from Escobar’s perspective and that of US DEA agent, Steve Murphy (Boyd Holbrook), partner of Mexican agent Javier Peña who brings Escobar down, the producers have sought to appeal to US and Spanish audiences equally.

The series was created from extensive research into news articles and archival footage, as well as interviews with police officers, lawyers, civilians and others who experienced the events first-hand.

The premiere date and further casting details are yet to be announced.
