New grant will pay for you to live in a Himalayan monastery for 100 days and binge watch your favourite show
It will also compensate you for your salary while you're gone
Could there be a more calming combination than the Himalayas, a Tibetan Buddhist monastery and hours of TV?
This is what Samsung is offering with its Catch Up Grant, which will be awarded to one person who will get to spend 100 days at Tikse Gompa in Kashmir, India.
A little on the location from the company:
'Tikse Gompa was founded in the year 1430. The monastery is located at an altitude of 3,600 metres in the Indus Valley. The architecture of the monastery strongly resembles the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet, the former official seat of the Dalai Lamas. Tikse Gompa is the residence of about 80 Monks. We are very honored that Lama Thickse Rinpoche has opened up the monastery for our grantee.'
I mean, obviously spending your time at such a stoic, devout, tranquil place watching Scandal is a bit sacrilegious, but it’s a pretty nice holiday nonetheless.
The grant recipient will get 100 days worth of compensation away from their job during the stay, watching the program of their choice on a SUHD TV.
The reason (beyond the obvious PR coup)?
“A common topic of conversation nowadays is ‘the fear of missing out’,” Samsung’s Henrik Lethagen said.
‘We don’t have time to keep up with episodes of all the fantastic series out there, and the fear of being left behind in the ongoing pop culture conversation becomes a source of stress.
‘The Catch-up Grant is here to help those in need.’
