No one believes The X Factor judges genuinely remembered a contestant from nine years ago

No matter how breathtaking Anelisa Lambola's rendition of '(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman' might have been

The X Factor judges are human. We can accept this; we can live with the idea that they perhaps don't possess the supernatural recollections of a monk who sits alone atop a mountain, seeing through all time and all past lives.

If they forgot Anelisa Lambola, who originally auditioned nine years ago at the age of 17, that would be entirely acceptable now that she's returned to the show for its latest series.

Even if her new audition, singing Aretha Franklin's '(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman', blew the judges away and ignited a social media storm.

And, yet, when Anelisa recounted how she'd once audition for the show in Cardiff; Sharon Osbourne quickly chimed in with, "Yes! I remember." That's after Dermot O'Leary opened his interview with Anelisa with, "Now you've got to help me out, because I know your face. I know you've auditioned before."

To which the internet collectively stated, "Sure. Sure you did." Understandably, precisely zero fans on Twitter were ready to believe The X Factor judges would remember each of the 100s of auditionees who have walked through the doors in a shot for fame; considering most fans would have a hard time even naming everyone who's won the show.

The X Factor has already had a fair share of accusations thrown its way, having been once again hit with ‘fix’ accusations after reports emerged that a member of boy band 5AM - who auditioned on the show - previously featured on Radio 1, released an album, and worked with Beyoncé’s team.
