Helen Behan will play Joseph's sister Anna with Frank Laverty (Michael Collins) appearing as her husband.
The four-part series, which is said to draw on previous work including 2004 film Dead Man's Shoes , has been written by Jack Thorne whose impressive list of credits include The Fades , The Last Panther and stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child .

The Virtues will premiere on Channel 4 in 2019.
