Sport Relief 2014: Team Seb Coe beats Team John Bishop to win gold in the Clash Of The Titans challenge

Lord Sebastian Coe and his heroic team took top spot on the podium in the mighty Clash of the Titans sporting event during Sport Relief 2014.

Team Coe claimed victory in women’s pursuit cycling and rhythmic gymnastics and Team Bishop won at men’s elimination race and the synchronised swimming, thanks to a rather fine performance from Patrick Kielty wearing a Pharrell Williams hat.

Going into the final swimming relay event, the teams had just a single point separating them.

But after a solid performance from Greg James, Amy Williams and Richard Bacon in the pool, Team Coe scored enough to win the gold

“We’ve done this for an extraordinary effort tonight and I hope there are millions of young people who will benefit from everything that has been achieved,” Sebastian Coe said. “I think it was all down to my ribbons.”

John Bishop added: “It’s not about winners or losers. We’re all winners. It’s about the kids and the charity, that’s what it’s all about. I’m very proud of the team and the effort they have put in. It’s been like a Downtown Abbey sports day - you’ve got the lord and all the people who live upstairs and we’re like all of the people who live downstairs!”

Competing for Team Bishop was Olympic boxing gold medallist Nicola Adams, former England cricket captain Freddie Flintoff, BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show host Nick Grimshaw, comedian and presenter Patrick Kielty and Sport Relief champion/TV presenter Helen Skelton.

Team Coe was made up of TV and radio presenter Richard Bacon, BBC Radio 1 DJ Greg James, pop star Olly Murs, comedy actress Sally Phillips and Winter Olympic skeleton gold medallist Amy Williams.
