For those who haven’t watched Stranger Things, turn back now, for there are spoilers ahead.

Still here? You’ll more than likely be aware of the #JusticeForBarb movement.

No? Well, it’s a bunch of fans who want justice for fan favourite Barb after she was killed off in the ‘Upside Down’ without the outside world (minus a few characters) finding out what really happened.

The show’s creators have promised Barb’s story will be resolved in series two but failed to touch upon their original, rather gruesome plans for the character.

Visual artist Aaron Sims, who worked alongside the Duffer Brothers to create the show’s concept art, has revealed the horribe death Barb was originally going to suffer.

In an interview with ScreenCrush, Sims presented the concept art which saw a murdered Barb with her rib cage poking out of her body.

“Based on our original discussion with the Duffers on this design,” Sims told the publication. “We wanted to go really graphic with it to highlight the horrific aspects of Barb being eaten, and something then growing on top of her - thus, the ribs poking out of her stomach in the first shot.”

Somehow, things actually get worse in other sketches: “In the final design, they ended up veering away from that because it became too unrecognisable.

"It was difficult to tell exactly what had happened to her; it wasn’t an issue of it being too graphic, but rather, that the viewer needed to see something that was very recognisably dead.”

Talking about the image, which sees Barb with a spider coming out of her mouth, Sims added: “In the script for that episode, there was specifically a description of a spider coming out of her mouth, which we incorporated into the design of that second shot … we don’t really have an explanation for its existence; the design is based around the script’s description.”

Meanwhile, the creators of the show’s soundtrack SURVIVE have spoken to The Independent about writing the music and their career blowing up since the show debuted on Netflix.
