Stranger Things special Halloween promo from Netflix

Netflix has increasingly shown its finger's on the pulse when it comes to discussion of its TV shows, namely Stranger Things.

The streaming service giants - subscriptions to which are about to staggeringly surpass cable - didn't miss a trick this Halloween, releasing a spoof newscast relating to the disappearance of character Barb Holland (Shannon Purser).

The clip is pulled from a fictional news show named Minute by Minute with Brenda Wood and spends more time talking about Barb in its two minutes than all her mentions in the series put together.

“Barbara Holland, a student at Hawkins High known as Barb to her friends, was last seen at Steve Harrington’s home just a few days ago with a number of other Hawkins’ area teens,” the newsreader says.

Viewers go on to hear that Barb's friends and peers described her as "loyal to a fault to Nancy" and "the kind of girl who notices if you're wearing a new bra and can really rock a pair of mom jeans."

The spoof also addresses Eleven's (Millie Bobby Brown) eggo waffle-theft from supermarket Bradley's Big Buy.

Stranger Things - Season Two teaser

Stranger Things season 2 is expected to begin production this month; following Netflix's announcement of a follow-up series to the unprecedented hit, creators The Duffer Brothers released titles of all eight episodes. The series, which will address Barb-gate, will air in 2017.
