Strictly Come Dancing will return for a Christmas special on Christmas Day (BBC)

Christmas Day will once again be bringing with it the glitz of another Strictly Come Dancing special, with six of the most popular winners and contestants from past series returning to light up the festive dancefloor.

This year’s celebrities have been revealed, with model and TV presenter Abbey Clancy, McFly drummer Harry Judd, actor Tom Chambers and former Royal Marine Medic Cassidy Little among those making their colourful comebacks.

TV and radio presenter Lisa Snowdon, who came runner-up in series six, will also be reigniting her dance moves, along with TV presenter Alison Hammond.

Strictly Come Dancing recently took part in Children in Need to raise money for charity

The ladies will be whisked around the ballroom by professional dancers Pasha Kovalev, Brendan Cole and Robin Windsor, while the gentleman will be partnered by Natalie Lowe, Oti Mabuse and Joanne Clifton.

Each couple will perform a routine themed around family favourites including Scrooge, Jack Frost and Alice in Wonderland before the 2015 champions are presented with the Silver Star trophy.

Judges Darcy Bussell Sprouts, Len Glitter Goodman, Bruno Tinsel Tonioli and Craig Revel Humbug (blame the BBC) will be casting their verdicts as usual but the studio audience will decide who wins. Dame Shirley Bassey will perform.

Tess Daly will be joined by former host Sir Bruce Forsyth for the special, airing on BBC One.
