The finale of season six of The Walking Dead proved divisive among fans of the series with its cliffhanger ending.

For weeks, the show’s cast and creators teased the entrance of Negan and who Lucille would kill, yet they finished the season without revealing tje victim. For journalists, asking ‘who died’ will become a staple question in any Walking Dead-related interview, much like 'is Jon Snow dead'. Meanwhile, for fans, the frustration will be ongoing for weeks.

While he didn’t give away any clues over who died, showrunner Scott Gimple did attempt to appease fans at a screening of the season six finale.

“We never intend to f**k with people,” he told the audience according to Variety. “You all just saw the episode and I want to go on record and say we were not trying to f**k with you.”

Paul Feig, director of Ghostbusters, was acting as moderator. After being asked whether the show felt beholden to the comic books, Gibb explained that, even though they have differed from the comic books, they are still telling the same story.

“We have 153 issues of story to draw from,” Gimple said. “I think it’s an amazing thing to have that as a basis. We may be remixing it, enhancing it, emphasising parts of it, but I feel it only makes the tapestry richer. It is the story from the book but we are doing it in different ways.”

In recent Walking Dead news, the show’s Instagram account recently teased a new comic book character entering the show.
