The Walking Dead actor Andrew Lincoln stopped by airport customs because of Negan cliffhanger

'I get asked every time I leave my house'

Considering The Walking Dead dropped one of the most agonising cliffhangers in recent TV memory at the close of its sixth season, it's not surprising that its cast would get quizzed by fans about what's to come.

Andrew Lincoln knows this all too well.

The actor, who plays Rick Grimes in the AMC zombie series, was asked by Entertainment Weekly how the cliffhanger affected his everyday life and revealed he even struggles to get through airport security without being asked the immortal question: "Who did Negan kill?"

"[I get asked] every time I leave my house. Every time I go through customs."

"Every time they are checking my belt going through the security, everybody's going, 'Please tell me. Just tell me. Just whisper, who is it? Is it you? Why are you in England at the moment? What are you doing here? Why are you not working or filming?' and all of that. It's hilarious. Absolutely insane."

The final moments of season 6 saw a group of 11 characters surrounded by The Saviours as their leader Negan (Jeffrey dean Morgan) bludgeoned one to death with his baseball bat he calls Lucille. Executive producer and director Greg Nicotero stated that season 7's opening scene will reveal the identity of the unlucky character (we analyse who it could be here).

Morgan himself teased that Negan's arrival will "reset the world" of the show as fans know it.

The Walking Dead returns in the US on 23 October and will air a day later on FOX in the UK.
