How to follow COP 16 online

As environmental officials and government ministers begin gathering in Cancun, Mexico, for climate change conference COP 16 (November 29 - December 10), there are a number of official and unofficial ways to follow the major developments.

The conference aims to get the world's governments to continue in their efforts to move towards an international agreement to cut carbon emissions. The participants at COP 16 aim to agree on a treaty to replace the Kyoto protocol which came into force in 2005 and committed rich countries to reducing their emissions by 2012, after last year's talks at Copenhagen failed to produce a replacement document.

Though the event will be extensively covered in the international media there are a number of ways for members of the public to follow the event online for themselves.
