World Sleep Day is an annual, global event organised by the World Sleep Society that aims to celebrate sleep and raise awareness of the important reasons for getting a good night’s kip.

If you’re struggling to get a full night’s rest, you’re not alone. Owing to lockdown, research indicates that despite the fact many of us have more time for sleep, the quality of our kip has become worse. Reasons for this are said to be due to a change in routine and general anxiety.

To help you on your way to securing a full eight hours (the National Sleep Foundation advises adults need between seven and nine) the IndyBest team have written about their favourite products they can’t nod off without. With everything from PJs and candles to pillows and duvets, it’s your ultimate guide.

But it might also be your bedding that’s preventing you from reaching a dreamy state. With the National Bed Federation recommending that you change your mattress every seven to eight years, it can amount to being a rather costly endeavour.

But that’s where we come in. With a constant eye out for a good deal (including sales on laptopsTVs and fridge freezers), we’ve just noticed one of our favourite bed-in-a-box brands, Eve Sleep, is offering up 35 per cent off its mattresses to celebrate World Sleep Day.

And to help you a little further, we’ve compiled a mattress buying guide, which unpicks everything from the different types, including bed-in-a-box and memory-foam models, to the sizes and available levels of firmness.

Eve Sleep produces a range of mattresses, including those that are a combination of memory foam and springs to provide optimal comfort and support.

Each bed from the brand also comes with a 10-year warranty and a 100-night trial, so in the unlikely event that you decide it’s not for you, Eve Sleep will collect it for free and you will receive a full refund.

If this sounds like it’ll solve your sleep-related woes (we think it will), read on for our review of Eve Sleep’s mattresses. You’ll be able to rest easy knowing you’ve saved on this leading brand.

Our IndyBest team hand-picks every deal we feature. We may earn some commission from the links in this article, but our selections have been made independently and without bias. This revenue helps to fund journalism across The Independent.

Eve Sleep the premium hybrid mattress: Was £978, now £782, Evesleep.co.uk

(Eve Sleep)

Taking the top spot in our review of the best mattresses, this is a bed in a box that you can trust. Available in a double, king and super king sizes, it has a depth of 28cm and our writer claimed that this extra-deep, vacuum-packed hybrid mattress is “next level”.

Receiving a 10 out of 10 for “breathability, comfort and support, being just slightly firmer than medium”, it’s clearly a very impressive mattress, making the discount even more noteworthy. With a combination of special layers born out of years of product development, focus groups and testing, it has a “luxurious feel” that others can’t come close to.

“The top provides a comfy lift, followed by a contouring memory foam layer, then a firmer foam support layer and a sturdy foam base layer that also encloses full-sized pocket springs,” wrote our reviewer, adding that “you won’t disturb your partner when you roll over”. It sounds like a very worthy investment.

Eve Sleep the original hybrid mattress: Was £769, now £538, Evesleep.co.uk

(Eve Sleep)

A newcomer to the brand’s offering, this model “falls right in the middle on price, depth, support, number of springs and layers of foams,” noted our writer in our review of the original hybrid mattress.

The lighter hybrid version (£376, Evesleep.co.uk) is 20cm thick and has three layers of foam, but no memory foam, while the premium hybrid (£782, Evesleep.co.uk) is 28cm thick with five layers of foam, said our writer.

This one, in between the two others, has a thickness of 25cm and 800 full-sized 12cm springs (in a double), combined with four layers of memory and support foam.

It provides a “supportive yet bouncy sleeping surface than its cheaper counterpart”, said our reviewer, and they found it particularly well suited to “combination sleepers”. Compared to other brands, our writer praised the foam for being more breathable, which is “helped by the moisture-wicking, washable top cover”. For a limited time only, this has 30 per cent off, so make use of the discount sooner rather than later.

Eve Sleep the original mattress: Was £629, now £440, Evesleep.co.uk

(Eve Sleep)

At 24cm thickness with medium firmness, this foam mattress is said to be supportive, particularly for those who sleep on their back. With a breathable fabric, it has moisture-wicking qualities, meaning even on the warmest of nights, you shouldn’t become damp with sweat. Although we haven’t tested this specific model, this mattress should prove an excellent entry point if you’re looking to spend a little less but still want the same high quality that our other reviews show that Eve Sleep offers.

Eve Sleep the lighter hybrid mattress: Was £579, now £376, Evesleep.co.uk

(Eve Sleep)

“It’s lighter, but no less mighty(er),” notes the brand of this model. With a 20cm thickness (its premium hybrid is 28cm), Eve Sleep claim you’ll still get decent comfort and support. The joy of opting to buy from this brand is that you can also select to have your current mattress removed and recycled when your new one arrives. At just £376, this is a very competitive price for a mattress from a brand that we trust.
