Olympic star banned for punching her team manager
China's most decorated Winter Olympic star has been banned from the national team after drunkenly punching her team manager. Speed skater Wang Meng, rapidly gaining a reputation as the wild woman of Chinese sport, lashed out when she was confronted about violating a training camp curfew imposed following an earlier rowdy night out.
Ms Wang, 26, reportedly then went on a violent rampage, damaging property in the team hotel and injuring herself. Male speed skater Liu Xianwei was also expelled for his role in the incident in the coastal city of Qingdao on 24 July, China's sports governing body said.
