To mark Glenn Gould's 80th birthday, Gidon Kremer commissioned new arrangements by contemporary composers of some of the late pianist's signature Bach pieces.

This gives us the chance to hear strings, harpsichord, and even marimba, ascending that most logical of musical staircases in excerpts from The Well-Tempered Clavier, as well as a gorgeous adaptation for solo violin and strings of the F minor Cembalo Concerto's slow movement. There are also two enchanting versions of the opening Aria from the Goldberg Variations, with Georgs Pelecis' string arrangement creating a delicate meniscus of sound.
