Anne Hathaway: I want to get a baby, get a baby, get a baby

The Les Miserables star is far from unhappy as she makes joyful plans for 2013

Anne Hathaway has spoken out about her desire to start a family with her new husband Adam Shulman.

The Les Miserables actress said: “I’ve wanted to be a mom since I was 16. I’m 30 and I want to have a family of a certain size.’”

In an interview with The Telegraph she said: “I’ll start with one healthy kid but I’d like to have a few naturally and adopt. I gotta get on it, you know? I’d like to have as many as I can afford, not just financially but in terms of time, because you want to make sure each one feels special.”

She went on: “I’ve had one goal in mind for the past 12 years, which is: get a movie, get a movie, get a movie. Now I might have to say: get a baby, get a baby, get a baby.”

The actress, whose turn as Fantine in the soon-to-be-released film adaptation of Les Miserables has won high praise from the critics, and whose performance as Cat Woman in The Dark Knight Rises was called "spectacular" by President Obama, says she has had a wonderful 12 months.

“I can honestly say with absolute assurance that 2012 has been the best year. It has just been spectacular, wonderful,” she said. “I got to star in two wonderful films, I turned 30 and I married the love of my life.”

The star, who found fame in 2001 film The Princess Diaries, said she is “really resistant to the princess thing, because I felt so pegged in by the association early on in my career. But describing her wedding she said: “I felt like I was living in an enchanted fairyland that day. My mum sang Sea of Love, I was dancing with friends I’ve grown up with who I adore deeply… I can’t deny I’m a deeply loved person, not just by Adam.”
