The latest issue of Dazed and Confused, featuring US rapper Azealia Banks on its cover, is causing quite a stir. Smoking a blown-up condom like a cigar, the magazine has been banned in seven countries. If you've yet to encounter her, here are some facts about the 21-year-old New Yorker.

She topped the NME Cool List at the end of last year, off the back of one song, "212", in which she swears more than 50 times. She is a fashion-world favourite, having played at parties for Chanel and Topshop, and was recently announced as the face of Alexander Wang's T Fall 2012 campaign.

Banks studied at La Guardia High School – the Fame school.

While she considers herself bisexual, she has told The New York Times: "I'm not trying to be, like, the bisexual, lesbian rapper. I don't live on other people's terms."

She is yet to release her debut album. So far her output includes singles, a four-song EP, 1991, and a mixtape, Fantasea.
