My interest in gardening translates to a few plants on a windy balcony and a fondness for Gardeners' Question Time. But every year my interest is piqued when the Chelsea Flower Show rolls into town. In my mind I'd dawdle idly around sipping champagne and Pimm's before returning home laden with seedlings and inspiration.

In reality I know I don't have the stamina to be herded around with the hordes up from the Home Counties and would end up an angry, dehydrated mess; so instead I'll stay home and bring the outside inside with these floral tributes.

White Lilac & Rhubarb scented candle

£42, jomalone.co.uk

This is undoubtedly sweet, but a green freshness stops it cloying and the proceeds (less VAT) will go to support community gardens charities.

Savage Flower eau de parfum

£65, Bronnley, fortnumandmason.com

For a brand that's 130 years old, this is a surprisingly modern take on a floral fragrance – a heady blend of rose, jasmine, vetiver and pink peppercorn.

Laurent-Perrier Gentian candle

£75, Roja Parfums, harrods.com

Inspired by the gardens at Chatsworth, the perfumer Roja Dove has created this candle to coincide with Chelsea, placing an unusual alpine flower at its heart.

Ostara eau de toilette

£110, penhaligons.com

Daffodils spread such joy – and this fragrance does the same. It smells like a walk in the park on a spring day, and is the perfect pick-me-up, especially when it's raining.

British botanical shower cream

£24, Elemis, timetospa.co.uk

With aromatic lavender, chamomile, geranium, oats and rosemary, this rich, hydrating cleansing cream is a veritable stroll through the British countryside.
