Catwalk beauty: Designer trends still inspire the colours that make it into our make-up bags

It will come as no surprise that backstage footage of Nineties fashion shows features supermodels in hair and make-up. What is surprising, however, is that these (ludicrously well-paid) Glamazons are painting their own faces.

These days, catwalk make-up is used to underline the designer's message, and can be one of the most experimental parts of a show. In the same way that fashion trends are tamed by the time they reach us mere mortals, so do those concerning beauty – but they still inspire the colours and textures that make it into our make-up bags.
