Whether a new phone or tablet tops your wish list this Christmas, a stylish case will keep it safe, says Gemma Hayward
A curious case of good taste
Show all 12It wouldn't be a shock to learn that you have a gadget on your Christmas list (not least if you've read today's 10 Best, opposite). But whether you're wishing for an iPad, Kindle, laptop, iPhone or BlackBerry, you need to ensure that it's as impeccably dressed as you.
As well as providing much-needed protection for expensive hardware, gadget cases are becoming as much of a statement as a handbag: opting for a bog-standard black-plastic number simply won't do, especially when there are such fabulously fun ones available. Top of the Christmas list of any sensible fashion followers are Danish designer Peter Jensen's collection of iPad and iPhone covers. Leather pouches, all embossed with a logo repeat from his brand (which just happens to be a cute little bunny) are available in brown, white, black and green with a luxurious velvet inside.
That's not where the bunny theme ends – or the animal trend for that matter – you can dress your iPhone 5 up as an actual cute bunny, complete with fluffy tail. Or in Marc Jacobs' hands, an iPhone 4 becomes a cartoon-like dog. Woof!
Alber Elbaz has put his elegant touch to iPad sleeves for Lanvin, illustrations of happy-looking ladies fill every inch of which, while Diane Von Furstenburg has opted for leopard print. Generally, if you stick to the make-a-statement rule of thumb – think bold patterns, interesting prints, bright colours and metallics – you won't push a button wrong.
