It may still be in its infancy, but since Sophia Webster’s scenestealing line made its debut proper at London Fashion Week last September it has been squarely in the spotlight. It’s little surprise that the vibrant, quirky and colourful designs were a hit from the start, after all, Webster cut her teeth with British luxury shoe designer Nicholas Kirkwood.

Now the fledgling talent has been commissioned to create a range of designs exclusive to Revlon to celebrate the launch of its ColorStay Ultimate Suede, a new line of 14 lipsticks. Available now, Suede by Sophia takes the chic matte finish of the lipsticks as the starting point for a collection of eight matching high-heel styles – each of which is given individual details inspired by a particular shade. Known for her use of graphic motifs, here a kiss is replicated as contrasting embroidery on suede and colour stamped on to clear vinyl, while the straps on one style are even modelled on a traditional lipstick bullet. The suede connection is taken further still, with the fabric appearing on each design.

“I love wearing bold and bright matte lipsticks,” says Webster. “The colour palette of vibrant reds, pretty rose pinks and deep cherry shades helped inspire the designs and kiss-themed prints. My favourite is the red suede Mimi Kiss Me. I am a big fan of pointy midheights at the moment. The shape is chic and classic which is juxtaposed with the graphic lip-printed vinyl, giving the shoe a feminine and fun twist.”

Of course, Webster’s needle- heeled designs won’t be for everyone, but luckily the long-lasting, moisturising lipsticks are a far less extreme way to make a fashion statement.
