What to wear for Ascot's King George weekend

The event is more relaxed than Royal Ascot, but maintains the heritage and prestige - so this is how to glam up for it

Royal Ascot might be over for another year, but the track is back in action as it welcomes one of the biggest, and most prestigious, races of the year later this month.

The King George Weekend comes next on the list after the annual Royal Meeting that sees a parade of high fashion and glam hats. Known as "Diamond Day", the two-day annual event celebrates high summer and commemorates The Queen's late parents, during Ascot's Flat racing season, which runs from May to October.

The style guide might be rather confusing but keep in mind that it's more relaxed than Royal Ascot, although it maintains its heritage and prestige. It still requires a smart dress code: women are encouraged to wear a head piece and no bared chests are allowed; men must wear a jacket with a collared shirt and tie (no trainers, obvs).

It welcomes well dressed race-goers to a traditional English garden party setting. So, if you’re thinking of attending the races, we suggest (weather permitting) summer dresses in white, ivory and pastels, but smarter shades of grey and black fit in well too. And if you're feeling more adventurous, push fashion boundaries in jumpsuits and short suits.

Whether you’re attending The King George’s races or any other event during the Flat racing season, here are some style inspirations to glam up this season.

King George Weekend takes place at Ascot Racercourse from 24 to 25 July.
