Jourdan Dunn is the first black model to star solo on the cover of British Vogue for 12 years.

The British model was unveiled as the cover star of the upcoming February issue of the monthly fashion magazine.

Dunn is the first black model solo star, since Naomi Campbell featured on the cover of the magazine back in 2002.

In the image, Dunn is photographed by Patrick Demarchelier wearing a yellow patterned Prada dress.

Although this is her first solo cover, Dunn has featured on the cover of Vogue previously alongside Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Eden Clark back in 2008. She also featured on the cover of Miss Vogue earlier in 2014.

Dunn's cover comes following a year that has seen the industry attract widespread criticism for the lack of diversity in fashion covers.

In a report of print magazine covers by thefashionspot.co.uk it was found that out of 611 covers "white models appeared 567 times, while people of color* made 119 appearances."

Dunn, 24, began her modelling career at the age of 14 when she was scouted by Storm models. Her career quickly escalated and she stars in an array of major campaigns including Maybelline, Topshop, DKNY and Burberry.
