Stella McCartney will design the Rio 2016 kit for Team GB it has been confirmed today.

Back in 2012 the British designer put a high fashion spin on the uniforms of the athletes for the London 2012 Olympic Games and she is once again taking up the role of Creative Director for the Adidas Team GB official kit.

A behind-the-scenes film shows prospective Olympians meeting with the designer to collaborate on the design.

McCartney is no stranger to sportswear, her long-running collaboration with Adidas is now in its 10th year and showing no signs of fatigue.

Designing the collection is no mean feat; McCartney was first commissioned to take on the task back in April 2014 as the process involves rigorous testing as well as working hand-in-hand with athletes including Jessica Ennis-Hill and Laura Trott.

"It is a great honour to work with our great athletes again to make them proud with the designs we are creating for them." McCartney commented on the news.

Ennis-Hill who won gold in the heptathlon in 2012 also praised the designer:

"The kit in London 2012 was so iconic and was part of so many special memories for me personally.I am looking forward to seeing the new designs made up and hopefully I will get to wear them and be part of another incredible Olympics in 2016.”
