Is Vogue editor Anna Wintour’s clothing allowance £120,000?

The legendary editor is said to be given an annual clothing allowance from Conde Nast

US Vogue editor Anna Wintour is reportedly given an exuberant clothing allowance of $200,000 (approx. £120,000) from employers Conde Nast.

The figure was revealed in New York Times’ T Magazine by an undisclosed source. However, as Wintour is widely considered the most influential figure in the fashion world, Conde Nast obviously considers the editor’s wardrobe a worthy investment.

The 64-year-old legendary editor has an impeccable taste and is always seen sporting her iconic bob and wearing high end designer clothing, in particular her favourite fashion houses include Prada and Chanel. Not only that, she’s frequently spotted wearing the latest collections not long after they’ve left the catwalk.

Besides her annual allowance, the British editor is reportedly gifted an array of designer looks and pieces. But despite her exclusive wardrobe allowance, she regularly recycles her outfits and rarely wavers from her signature shoes, a pair of Manolo Blahnik cross-front slingbacks, which she is said to have in different shades of nude colour.

Wintour is American Vogues’ seventh editor-in-chief and has held her role since 1998. She has become so powerful within the tittle and the fashion industry that she is currently the worldwide figurehead.

Saying this, she’s been the inspiration of two films, including a documentary The September Issue which she featured in, and a Hollywood film, The Devil Wears Prada which was allegedly based on a former assistant’s experiences at the magazine. Nevertheless, last month Wintour’s reign at Conde Nast was extended when she was appointed editorial director of all titles.
