Orla Kiely: Where can you buy the products after liquidation?

This week print-lovers everywhere mourned the loss of one of fashion’s brightest brands as the news broke that Orla Kiely had collapsed into administration.

The 1970s-inspired label was renowned for its quirky floral and graphic prints and boasted the Duchess of Cambridge and Alexa Chung as loyal fans.

However, as of Monday 17 September, the fashion company has ceased trading and closed all of its stores.

But Kiely fans shouldn’t despair just yet as there are a few ways you may still be able to get your hands on pieces by the beloved brand.

From scouring the web for second-hand items to channelling your sartorial passions into the brand’s extensive homeware line, which has not affected, see our list below for places to buy Orla Kiely now.

Second-hand retailers

The fashion label might’ve gone into administration, but that’s not going to stop people from trading their pre-purchased Kiely goods online.

Just one quick search on Ebay reveals plenty of second-hand bags, dresses and jackets by the brand.

Of course, savvy shoppers with a penchant for affordable vintage garb might also stumble across some of Kiely’s colourful designs in places such as Oxfam and Cancer Research UK.

You may want to get shopping fast though; people always want what they can’t have, making Kiely’s fashion items all the more sought-after now, so get moving.

Third-party retailers

While Orla Kiely’s own retail stores have now closed, it’s expected that third party retailers who stock the products will continue to sell them until stock runs out.

This is fairly routine procedure for brands that go into liquidation so as to avoid waste.

Homeware

In a statement posted on the brand’s website, it reveals that Orla Kiely’s home and design licensing business will not be affected by the closure of its wholesale fashion business and explains that a selection of homewares and accessories will continue to be sold through distribution partners.

The wash bags, candles and diffusers will continue to be distributed by KMI Brands and are available for purchase at John Lewis (online and in-store), Ocado and at various independent retailers, a spokesperson for KMI told The Independent.

Meanwhile, other items such as stationary and bedding will continue to be distributed as normal via the soft furnishings company Ashley Wilde.

“Ashley Wilde will continue to collaborate with Orla on new ranges of exciting prints over the next few years,” a statement from the company reads, “and we are reassuring all our customers that it is business as usual.”
