Rugged, outdoorsy garb might not seem like an obvious choice for the style set but this season it has been given a high fashion update. That’s right, camouflage is officially cool again.

Not convinced? Just ask fashion guru Victoria Beckham who dared to bring back the divisive print when she stepped out in New York last week.

Switching her signature white T-shirt for a camouflage version, Beckham paired the early Noughties style with a pair of flared jeans, oversized sunglasses and a khaki crescent bag.

Dubbed “the new white T-shirt”, the top in question is part of Beckham’s pre spring/summer 2019 collection, which is “coming soon”, she revealed on Instagram.

But, she’s not the only designer making a case for the return of camouflage.

This season, Michael Kors showed a number of camo-print pieces including jackets worn over dresses, while Jeremy Scott championed it with everything from baggy trousers and pencil skirts to jumpers and accessories.

Aside from Beckham, a number of other celebrities have also worn camouflage in recent months.

Kim Kardashian wore hers in the form of cut-off camouflage shorts with heels and a crop top, while Poppy Delevingne opted for a more casual take with a Supreme sweatshirt, denim shorts and trainers.

However you choose to wear it, the key to avoiding paintball enthusiast territory here is to keep it simple.

Always wear just one piece at a time and make sure that it’s decorating more grownup silhouettes.

If the idea of going full-on camouflage is too daunting for you, start with small doses or try picking out individual colours from the print first and combine them to create a tonal ensemble.
