Luscious: the range of tonics from Luscombe
Luscious: the range of tonics from Luscombe

1. Luscombe crafted tonic waters, 20cl, from £1, Theginparlour.com

The Devon brand Luscombe is behind three subtly botanical flavoured tonics: grapefruit, elderflower and a classic. All three use natural Devon spring water and Indian quinine and best of all, there are no artificial flavours or preservatives.

2. Ember biltong, 30g (also available in multi packs of six), £2.50, Amazon.co.uk

Made form British and Irish grass-fed cows, this is about as natural as it gets. With no added sugar, each pack has 19g of protein and has that gorgeous air-dried flavour and texture which is thinly sliced and not too hard. Choose from the original flavour or chilli in snack sizes.

3. Camel Valley pilsner, 6.6%, 750ml, £22, Sharpsbrewery.co.uk

Collaborations don’t come much better than this. Sharps – Cornwall’s most prolific brewery – and the Camel Valley vineyard have joined forces to make a champagne beer. Lightly hopped, sharp and citrus-y to taste, it took home the title of the best champagne beer at the 2017 World Beer Awards.

4. Great British Biscotti, jalapeno and cheddar, £3, Cookfood.net

As part of its new flavours, this artisan bakery has launched new savoury flavours in the form of croutons. These include jalapeño and cheddar, and, wild garlic and rosemary for canapés; or to top homemade soups. There are also other, more experimental, sweet flavours, including chocolate orange that can be dunked in coffee. We love dipping the savoury flavours in humus or guacamole.

5. Rock Rose gin, the autumn edition, 41.5%, 70cl, £37, Masterofmalt.com

Dunnet Bay Distillers has created an autumn edition of Rock Rose gin, made with local raspberries, blackberries and blueberries from the historic region of Caithness in Scotland, near Dunnet where the distillery is based. This has a warming spice in Vietnamese coriander. Add a basil leaf to the mix to complement the berries. We also love the ceramic bottle and burgundy wax seal.

6. Indie bay pretzel snacks, 26g, £1.20, Planetorganic.com

You might think pretzels and think of that classic shape, but Indie Bay has reinvented them – not only in size, but with a small ball shape and three flavours: sunflower supersedes; quinoa cracked pepper and spelt rock salt. They’re baked and nice and crunchy and are healthier at 100 calories a pack – and preservative-free.

7. Charlie Bigham’s autumn range, £7.50 to £8.50, Waitrose.com

Six new dishes for autumn, including sausage and mash in port, red wine and sage sauce, and warming sweet and sour chicken with egg fried rice – comfort food and British favourites all made with fresh ingredients.
