Any Friends fan worth their salt will remember the Moist-maker (horrendous as that name is). And any decent human being will understand the outrage Ross felt upon discovering someone had eaten his sandwich, the aforementioned Moist-maker, at work.

For the uninitiated who hasn’t seen “The One with Ross’ Sandwich”, allow me to explain.

The Moist-maker is Ross’ sister Monica’s secret sandwich recipe made using Thanksgiving leftovers. What makes it so special, Ross reveals, is the extra slice of gravy-soaked bread in the middle.

And what Brit wouldn’t appreciate the addition of extra gravy to, well, anything?

Now, thanks to YouTuber and chef, Andrew Rea, we can all make Moist-makers of our own.

The Moistmaker is the latest in Rea’s Binging with Babish series, where he recreates iconic dishes from films and TV.

First, Rea demonstrates how to butterfly a turkey before sprinkling it with a mix of baking powder and salt. The turkey is then placed in the fridge to chill overnight.

The first thing to do the next day is make turkey stock with the spine and neck of the bird, carrots, turnips, parsnips, onions, thyme, black peppercorns, parsley, garlic and water.

Next up, make the stuffing by baking sandwich bread cut into cubes and browning sausagemeat. Onions, celery and bacon fat then need to be sauteed before adding the turkey stock, sage, thyme and parsley. Add in the sausage then mix all together with the bread. Bind the stuffing all together with beaten egg before pouring into a large dish to bake.

To cook the turkey, cover a large baking tray with chopped vegetables and place the bird on top - bake for two hours.

Whilst the turkey roasts, Rea shows us how to make the cranberry sauce and the gravy.

With all the components cooked, it’s time to assemble your Moist-maker!

Rea tops a slice of toasted bread with white meat, stuffing, the all important slice of bread soaked in gravy, dark meat, more stuffing, cranberry sauce and the top piece of bread.

Seeing Rea’s creation, it’s not surprising Ross was as distraught as he was after someone ate his sandwich.
