"I'm a twenty-something... what should be my top priority?"

Nikant Vohra says:

In your 20s you are energetic and have much more enthusiasm to try on different things. Don't worry about failure at this age. Whether it is taking a job in a different country, starting your own company or traveling the world, be prepared to take risks at this age.

You want to learn how to dance, go join a Zumba class. You want to find your inner calling, try doing some meditation. You feel miserable at your job, change it and find something you love doing.

20's is an age for experimentation. You don't have many responsibilities at this age and your energy levels are high. It's OK if in your 20s you cannot find the one thing you want to do your entire life.

Don't waste your life in doing something that the society expects you to do. Don't be a part of the herd. In his book Linchpin, Seth Godin talks about the importance of being different in your workplace. The people who make progress in their work are not the ones who keep on following the rules and regulations of the workplace. These are the people who are able to challenge the rules and are not afraid to show their creativity at work.

You might have heard about the famous physicist Richard Feynman. In the book Surely you're joking Mr. Feynman, there are various short stories from his life. He was curious about a lot of things in life. Despite being a physicist, he did research in Biology, learned how to crack safes and played drums at a Brazilian carnival. He did not settle and kept exploring his passions.

So don't waste your time on drinking, watching endless TV series or mindless facebook browsing in your 20's. Find something you are passionate about and start exploring it.

Jessica Rose says:

I'm 22-years-old and my priority is self-development. I spend time improving my emotional and social connections, physical health, mental health and knowledge, financial stability, budgeting, investing, career improvement, conditioning to overcome fears and limitations, etc.

I think the ONE thing you should prioritize is your mentality for growth. Once you have that desire to improve yourself you can find many opportunities and take control of your own happiness. I believe that when you are so consumed trying to “figure out” what you should do, and where you should be, or how to avoid regret that you are letting opportunities and moments slip right from under you.

For the longest time I have been told I need to find my purpose and find a career that I am passionate about in order to find true happiness. And just like most people, I have been overwhelmed because I have NO clue what that is. This video helped me realize that the subconscious expectations that we - and society puts on us does not have to be made with such a cookie cutter mentality.

From someone who has grown up on their own with no financial knowledge or parental support...

- Learn about finance and budgeting.

Build your credit wisely, refinance your car, limit your unnecessary spending and save up for long term goals.

- Look after your diet, physical health and medical needs.

Small investments towards your health now can prevent huge limitations and expenses in the future. Personally, I have let my back pain get so bad where I could not enjoy much without crippling pain and the longer you wait, the worse it gets.

- Realise the importance of quality friends, and get rid of the toxic people around you

Keeping negative people around you effects your mental health and mind set, it often limits you from focusing on your own happiness.

If you plan accordingly and sow the seeds from the start, you have a bigger reach to fulfill your desires and dreams with the right financial structure and support. You have the wisdom and abilities to utilize every opportunity that comes your way.
