Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 galloped into the all formats games chart, becoming the biggest launch of 2012 and the fourth biggest of all time.

The Xbox 360 version enjoyed the lion’s share of the sales with a 60% share of the market, with PS3 taking 38%. Elsewhere, the heavily criticised Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified for PS Vita entered at sixteenth to become the second biggest Vita launch of the year.

Last week’s biggest seller Halo 4 fell back to second but retained its position ahead of both FIFA 13 and Assassin’s Creed III, while the other major Activision Blizzard title of recent weeks, Skylanders Giants climbed up to fifth.

Releases of note to fail to break into the top ten include Sony’s Wonderbook: Book of Spells (25th), Codemaster’s F1 Race Stars (26th) and Sega’s Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed (27th).

Predictions for next week: Hitman: Absolution.
