Coraline is the video-game version of the film inspired by the fantastical fairy story by Neil Gaiman. And while the game looks great, with the unusual characters rendered with skill and charm, the gameplay is dull, dull, dull. Sure, it’s a title aimed squarely at children, but given the eerie and unusual raw material, it’s galling that a more magical experience isn’t forthcoming. Short, uninspiring and filled with boring minigames, Coraline looks the part but doesn’t play it.
