Set in a mythical kingdom where war is never more than a crossed sword away, Flames of Judgement concentrates on Tobias – a young soldier destined for greatness – and his band of heroes. Encounters take place on tiled battlefields, each soldier having a set number of movement points per turn. Once manoeuvred into tactically beneficial locations, troops can attack with sword, bow or magic; or else heal friendly forces. Graphics are serviceable, if never impressive, but it’s the considered nature of clashes should please strategy aficionados, in this reasonable return for the classic Vandal Hearts series.
