Bethesda Softworks has announced that Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami and his development team at Tango Gameworks are working on a survival horror game.

The new project, thus far known solely under the codename "Zwei", is said to 'push the limits of fear and exhilaration in a bid to create pure survival horror'. Coming from a veteran of not just the original Resident Evil, but Resident Evil 4, Dino Crisis, Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe, Killer 7 and more there’s every reason to assume Mikami will deliver on his promise.

'A true survival horror game is one in which the player confronts and overcomes fear,' said Mikami. 'I’ve found my focus and once again I’m striving for pure survival horror. I am being very hands-on in the development of this game to ensure that the quality is there. Rest assured.'

So far little more information has been released beyond vague release date rumours of 2013-14 and a released collage showing some of the different environments from the game. Tango Gameworks even going so far as to confirm on their website that the screenshot is solely intended to give a ‘feel for the tone and direction the production is taking’ and neither it nor the game’s codename is intended to reveal exactly what’s in store.
