How artist Paperboyo transformed the Tate Modern
The social media sensation teamed up with Microsoft Surface to turn the iconic London landmark into a Christmas scene
Microsoft Surface has partnered with cult photographer and social media sensation Paperboyo to celebrate two new additions and a new matte black colourway into its product range. The Surface Book 2 and Surface Pro 6 bring together the best of hardware and software in a design that’s anything but ordinary.
To mark this launch, Paperboyo – who is best known on Instagram for his unique style of photography involving the use of paper figures to transform popular destinations into works of art – has created a series of images and videos. Using his matte black Surface Pro 6 (Microsoft’s most powerful 2-in-1 laptop) and Surface Pen, Paperboyo demonstrates how he uses the device and accessories to unlock his creativity and bring his imagination to life.
As part of this content he transformed London's most famous chimney, the Tate Modern, into a festive scene adorned with Santa and his reindeer.
“I’ve teamed up with Microsoft Surface once again and been putting my new Surface Pro 6 through its paces,” explains Paperboyo. “Originally my style of photography was based around ideas with silhouette cut-outs, but recently I've started to do more images with stencils because the Surface devices give me the right tools to design the really intricate concepts that I create my cut-outs with.
“Plus, the device is so thin and lightweight, it makes it very easy for me to put all my thoughts and designs in one place, while on-the-go.
“I’d like to pretend that their new colourway is a bespoke design, just for me, inspired by my cut-outs, but the reality is the new devices are available in matte black for everyone!”
