Instagram's first ever movie trailer shows off Ashton Kutcher as Apple-founder Steve Jobs in biopic 'Jobs'
Starring Ashton Kutcher in the title role, Jobs will be released in cinemas on August 16
After introducing video functionality to their app last month, it was only a matter of time before Instagram ramped up their work with advertisers. Now, the first ever movie trailer has been released on the service for the upcoming biopic of Steve Jobs.
With Ashton Kutcher in the starring role Jobs will be released in cinemas on August 16. The film follows the its eponymous hero from 1971 to 2000 from when he drops out of college and founds Apple, up to the release of the iPod. Jobs died in 2011 due to complications resulting from pancreatic cancer.
The trailer below is fairly evenly paced, despite the 15 second time limit on Instagram videos. It also compares well with the first trailer to be released on Instagram's main competitor, Vine. Advertising the upcoming X-Men film The Wolverine, the trailer was forced into Vine's 6-second time limit using editing speedy enough to make Aronofsky blink.
Industry analysts predict that advertising of this sort will be integral for the Facebook-owned Instagram, as specially as both social media networks attempt to monetize their user-base. Combined with targeted advertising that places brands in front of users that would be most interested in their product, video for Instagram should prove to be a lucrative feature.
