The latest trailer for Lord of the Rings: War In The North emphasizes its potential for online cooperative play as up to three adventurers cut a swathe through Tolkien's fiction.

Players may choose between a dwarf warrior, a human ranger, or an elf who can specialize in ranged attacks and up-close assault.

Together, they take on the dark forces of Agandaûr, one of Sauron's powerful allies, and skirt around events detailed in the Lord of the Rings novels and films.

The "Power of Three" trailer also confirms that War In The North isn't about to miss out on this season's must-have for any self-respecting fantasy game: dragons.

The game is set for a November 1 release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in North America, with releases in Australian and European regions in the following days.

That puts it a month after fellow fantasy adventure Dark Souls, a week before Skyrim, and concurrent with Uncharted 3, Sonic Generations, and GoldenEye 007: Reloaded.
