Apple has announced the date of its next event, where it is expected to unveil the next iPhone and a range of other hardware.

The company will hold the event on September 9, as had previously been rumoured, at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco — a much bigger venue than previous launches have been held in.

Apple is expected to launch the next iPhone — the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s plus — at the event. But it could also reveal the next Apple TV and new iPads, according to leaks.

But Apple didn’t mention any new products in the invitation, only suggesting that curious people ask Siri. The only words beyond the expected event details are: “Hey Siri, give us a hint.”

Saying those words to Apple’s digital assistant prompts a teasing reply.

“You’ll have to wait until September 9,” Siri says, in one of the answers. “I bet you were one of those kids who snuck downstairs to open presents early, weren’t you?”

Siri will give other, teasing responses — though all tell people that they’ll have to wait until the event.

A range of details have already been revealed about the new iPhone, however — all collected in our round-up of rumours for the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.
