Users of an elite dating site have had their sexual preferences and personal messages splashed across the internet.

The site, which only allows people onto it who are deemed attractive enough, appears to have had its users’ data compromised. That personal information has now been leaked across the web, where it has been made available for sale, according to security experts.

BeautifulPeople works by having existing users of the opposite sex vote on whether new applicants pictures are attractive enough. Users are shown someone’s profile and their pictures, and asked to pick whether they are attractive enough or not to be added to the site.

The hack has been public since late last year, but the data involved was thought to have come from a test server that didn’t include real data. Now it has been claimed that real data has been leaked from the server.

It includes information on users’ sexual preferences and a copy of their messages to each other. It also includes other personal information, like weight, height, job and body type.

BeautifulPeople.com did not respond to a request for comment. But it told other outlets that the information was not new but that it would still look to contact any members that are affected by the hack.

The information doesn’t include credit card information or passwords, it said.
