Bill Gates is going to explore the possibility of bringing out a new Age of Empires — potentially reviving one of the most-loved games ever made.

The Microsoft co-founder doesn’t have much to do with his old company nowadays, preferring to spend his time on philanthropy. But now he looks to combine the two, reviving the old empire-building game.

As part of an Ask Me Anything session on Reddit, a player leapt in to ask about the game.

“Mr Gates, can we please have another Age of Empires?” asked a Reddit user called le-click. “Not sure if this is your department, but I figured I’d ask since you were here...

“Thanks!”

Mr Gates responded to the question, as part of a session that included discussions of bio-terrorism and sushi.

"I will look into this,” he wrote. “How many empires do you need?"

The Age of Empires series was made by Microsoft Studios. Though there were three main games within the series, it also spawned a huge number of add-ons that increased the content within the game, and spin-offs such as Age of Mythology that included Norse and Egyptian gods.
