Apple has released its 'Best of 2014' list, which shows how successfully Minecraft has made the jump from PC to mobile, proving the top paid app for both iPhone and iPad.

The cubic sandbox game beat Football Manager Handheld 2014, Cut the Rope 2, Plague Inc and more, spurred on by younger games borrowing their parents devices in order to endlessly build.

Candy Crush Saga continued its unstoppable reign as highest grossing app meanwhile, in a list which saw gamers spurn critically-acclaimed titles in favour of Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, Farm Heroes Saga and Pet Rescue Saga.

Sadly our favourite Skullduggery didn't make the list, though the charming and beautifully designed Monument Valley was named Apple's editorial pick of the year.
