Commuters in London will soon be able to pick up their packages while travelling to and from work as Amazon installs its click-and-collect lockers in two London Underground stations.

Finchley Central and Newbury Park Tube will be first to play host to Amazon Lockers as part of a deal between the retailing giant and Transport for London (TfL).

Similar deals have been made between TfL and Tesco and Waitrose, with click and collect services also available at London Underground car parks since November last year as part of a six month trial with Asda.

Amazon customers can select one of the lockers as a delivery option (if space is available) and simply enter a pick-up code or scan a barcode printed at home to access their goods within three business days.

Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: “London Underground’s click-and-collect revolution is going from strength to strength, attracting some of the most recognisable names in retail.

“Amazon is a fantastic addition to a cast of top brands who are reaching out to their customers in new ways and enabling TfL to generate vital revenue for improvements to our transport network.”

There are currently close to 300 Amazon Lockers in the UK in locations including supermarkets, universities and libraries.

Amazon are even hoping that the Wi-Fi available in many Tube stations will allow customers to "make their purchases as they travel around the network" - perfect for when those serious delays hit your tube home and you want a pick me up waiting for you on arrival.
