Skincare is a highly complex discipline. But it's increasingly a source of entertainment too. Enter Dr Pimple Popper, a US dermatologist with nearly a million Instagram followers, who has found fame for her YouTube videos of extreme pimple, cyst and blackhead extractions. Some people have a morbid fascination with the clips, while others find them a satisfying substitute for picking at their own skin.

That can only be a good thing – we've always been rightly schooled not to pop, pick or squeeze our spots, and it's really best not to try to emulate the good doctor, no matter how hard it is to resist. If you do have an outbreak of spots all is not lost, there are a host of products to help keep skin clear, be it on your face or body.

I know you're probably dying to see for yourself, so if you have a strong constitution go right ahead and click here – but be prepared to lose your appetite for a while. Don't say I didn't warn you.
