GARLIC can prevent and treat food poisoning, according to research sponsored by the garlic capsule manufacturer Hofels. Researchers at the University of Wolverhampton found that under laboratory conditions garlic can kill and inhibit the growth of some of the common bacteria of the gut associated with food poisoning, including listeria monocytogenes. The precise dose necessary has yet to be worked out, according to General Practitioner: two small cloves a day has been suggested against listeria.
