Made in Chelsea fans praise star Alex Mytton for opening up about grief after mother’s death

Several viewers describe the conversation as one of the “most real” scenes ever aired by the E4 show

Made in Chelsea fans have praised cast member Alex Mytton for his honest discussion about losing his mother earlier this year.

In Monday night’s episode, Mytton spoke with his show co-star Jamie Laing about his mother’s death in April.

"My mum was an amazing woman and such a big positive part of my life. There's nothing I can say that will take away losing her," Mytton said.

"It's a very surreal moment you never, ever picture. You never think, 'Oh, there might be a time when I actually have to sit there and say the last words'."

The star described his final moments with his mother as “the hardest” and opened up about the heartbreak of sharing your last few words with a loved one.

“Another part of it is, you don't want to say these things, because you don't want them to hear it, because it's like an acceptance or an admittance that they are about to pass away, do you know what I mean?” he added.

"It's undoubtedly one of the hardest things I've ever had to deal with, for sure. The fact of it, I'm gonna miss her every day. There's always gonna be a huge hole.”

Fans have since taken to Twitter to express their heartbreak at viewing Mytton's emotional revelation, with several describing the conversation as one of the “most real” scenes ever aired by the television programme.

One fan tweeted: “My heart went out to Alex watching tonight’s episode. Such wise words at a heartbreaking time in his life. Wanting to climb in the tv and give him a big hug #MadeInChelsea”

Another added: “Mytton chatting about the loss of his mum was the most real and moving scene out of all 17 series. Bravo Alex for being so open and honest about something so raw and painful.”

“I loveee that Mytton was willing to open up about his mother’s death on MIC, it will encourage many others to open up which helps people grieve so they don’t get overwhelmed. Especially men. #MadeInChelsea [sic],” commented another.

Mytton announced his mother has passed away from brain cancer on Instagram in April.

“You really were the kindest, most caring, beautiful all-round woman and undoubtedly the biggest force for good in my life,” a segment from the post read, accompanying an image of the star’s mother.

At the end of the post, which garnered over 67,000 likes and hundreds of messages of support from fans, Mytton paid tribute to several organisations that supported his mother and family before her untimely death.

“I would also like to thank @macmillancancer, the NHS and Oak Hall care home for their efforts and support throughout and especially to Claire from Oak Hall who stayed with us around the clock and did way above and beyond her duty,” he concluded his caption.
