Asian woman hilariously mocks men who write 'How to pick up Asian women' books

The fetishisation of Asian women needs to stop

Isn’t it funny how some men seem to think they are experts on ‘picking up’ women, because, perhaps, they had a girlfriend one time?

Well there is a particular subset of this breed of man who deem themselves pick-up-artists (PUAs) for Asian women specifically.

They’ve written self-published books too, so you know they know their stuff. Titles include How to Get an Asian Girlfriend, Asian MILF Hunting and The Dark Side of Asian Women. We know.

However one Asian-American comedian has taken it upon herself to, well, quite frankly, roast these men by hilariously tearing apart their supposedly insightful words of wisdom for wooing Asian women.

Kristina Wong, like most people, understands that not all women of the same race are the same. It’s not groundbreaking. But her YouTube videos highlight how much some men stereotype Asian women.

In her series of six short videos, Wong and many other famous female Asian writers, comedians, actors and performers come together to refute and mock the claims in the books.

Pieces of advice in the books include: telling an Asian woman her skin looks so white, hanging out at gyms and taking tap dancing classes to meet them. Because apparently that’s where Asian women tend to hang out (it’s not).

“These guys spread misinformation on Asian American women, and their books are ripe for dissection,” Wong told Angry Asian Man blog.

“It’s time to flip the script on the submissive Asian woman stereotype and upend its root cause - white supremacy.”

She’s now started the hashtag #HowNOTtoPickupAsianChicks to encourage women to share examples of the discrimination they face and the treatment they receive from men.

This stereotype of Asian women shouldn't exist, and Wong’s videos help challenge it - making a lot of people chuckle in the process.
