KTM’s X-Bow was already the stuff of legend. Don’t expect the new Black Edition to change that.

This is, it may surprise you to hear, black. And with only ten (yes, ten) being made, it’s very much an edition.

The blackness comes from a new set of carbon body panels, which get the X-Bow’s weight down so low it can practically levitate. And the extra speed (of course there’s extra speed) comes from a further tweaked version of the existing Audi-sourced 2.0-litre engine.

This now rorts out 316bhp, all of which goes to the fun end via a new manual box. KTM hasn’t yet said what this will mean in terms of a sprint time – but if you’re not packing something very close to 3.0secs yourself, think twice before taking one on.

In addition to the weight saved by the new bodywork, unsprung mass has been reduced by the use of forged motorsport alloys. The floor, too, has gone from composite to carbon.

All of this can only mean one thing for the price. And sure enough, it’s going to be about £92,000.

You do get a tour of the KTM factory for that. And some new togs with the company’s logo on them. On balance, though, we think you’ll mainly be in it for the car.
