Aston Martin DB10: Bond gets car in Spectre that nobody else can buy

Luxury car company will only make 10 of the new cars, which were designed with help from the film's director

James Bond will once again drive an Aston Martin in the new film, Spectre, this time in a specially-designed one-off new car — the Aston Martin DB10.

The car, designed by a team led by Aston Martin’s chief creative officer and apparently offering a glimpse at what future Aston Martin’s will look like, will not be made available to the public.

The company said that it had worked with Spectre’s director, Sam Mendes, to design the car. Mendes also directed Skyfall, the most recent Bond film.

The cars will feature a 4.7-litre V8 engine, which could mean that it is similar to the company’s VH Vantage, which also contains the engine. But while the car has some similarities with that range, it isn’t based on any one model in particular, the Telegraph reported.

James Bond’s first Aston Martin was the DB5, which he drove in 1964’s Goldfinger, and he has been driving them ever since.

“In the same year that we celebrate our 50-year relationship with 007, it seems doubly fitting that today we unveiled this wonderful new sports car created especially for James Bond,” said Andy Palmer, chief executive of Aston Martin.

Spectre will be released on November 6, 2015. The company didn’t say what would happen to the 10 bespoke cars, which will all be built at Aston Martin’s headquarters in Warwickshire, after that.
