The new Ford Focus RS shifts. In every sense of the word, because even though nobody’s actually going to get their hands on it until next spring, more than 1500 people have already put down deposits on one.

Many have already owned an RS – and around 500 had already placed their orders before the vehicle’s specs and prices had even been announced.

That price is £28,940. And, lest we forget, those specs include a 345bhp engine and 165mph top speed.

Many early orders have requested motorsport-style Recaro seats

These early orders have been proving lucrative, too. ‘We expected those first in the queue to be exacting about their requirements,’ said Ford’s UK boss Andy Barratt. ’And so it has proved, with many opting for motorsport-style Recaro seats, 19” forged alloys, Luxury pack, sunroof and navigation.’
